Family Medicine Clinic of Danville, PSC was founded in 1999 and has been located at 640 E. Lexington Avenue in Danville since 2000. In September 2017, Dr. Hempel became affiliated with MDVIP and is able to devote his time to providing the best care for each patient.
Richard Hempel, MD
Dr. Hempel founded Family Medicine Clinic of Danville, PSC in 1999. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1981 with a BA in Biology with High Distinction. He subsequently graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1985 and completed his residency in Family Medicine in Tallahassee, Florida in 1988. He has lived in Central Kentucky since 1990 after serving two years as a member of the National Health Service Corps.
Dr. Hempel is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and also has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. He has assisted the ABFM in preparing certification exams for both Family Medicine and Geriatrics for over 15 years.
Dr. Hempel is married to Sarah and they have three sons. He is an avid sports enthusiast and has a passion for the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He enjoys participating in triathlons, running, leisure reading and spending time with his wife and sons on his farm in Mercer County.
